Instead of letting hard work go to waste due to rot, pests, or heat, post-harvest management uses smart handling, storage, and processing techniques to protect your yields and maximize your farming profits.

How can post-harvest losses be minimized?
1. In the Field (Immediate Post-Harvest)

Sort Right Away: Separate damaged or insect-bitten crops immediately so they do not rot the healthy ones.

Remove Field Heat: Move harvested crops out of the direct sun into a shaded packing house or pre-cooling area immediately to slow down wilting.

Handle Gently: Use smooth plastic containers instead of rough baskets to prevent cuts and bruises on fresh produce.

2. During Storage

Dry Grains Perfectly: Ensure maize, beans, and grains are completely dry before storage to stop mold and dangerous aflatoxins from growing.
